ENDODONTIC SURGERY INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare for Endodontic Treatment

While endodontic treatment is completed using a local anesthetic, there typically are no restrictions on driving or returning to work once the procedure is completed. We recommend you eat a full breakfast or lunch as applicable.

As far as medications go, please continue to use all medications prescribed by your physician for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems, etc. You may also be prescribed an antibiotic premedication before surgery because of conditions such as mitral valve prolapse, heart murmur, prosthesis, rheumatic heart disease, and more. Please take your antibiotic on the day of your appointment. Also, you can take either ibuprofen or naproxen sodium to help reduce inflammation before endodontic therapy begins.
